When Should You Change Cone Crusher Liners

Crusher Liners

Mechanical issues will arise when the liners are utilized for longer than their intended life. If a liner is pushed to far will stretch and crack, while the flexible mantle of a weak or cracked mantle will cause severe seat surface damage.

There's no way to tell whether the liners have worn out. However, there are two indicators that it's the right time to replace them

Production level

When you see an increase of 10% or more decrease in production levels or throughput, it's an indication that the Cone Mill Liners Foundry needs to be altered. If you have an interest to discover the latest information about shredder parts, you must sneak a peek at CrusherParts site.

Liner thickness

You should change the liner in case it is not evenly absorbing the chamber. It should be approximately 1" (2.5cm) thick at its lowest point. At about 3/4" to 5/8" (1.9 cm to 1.6 cm) thick, the liner will begin to crack, which will cause the backing material to start to break down. This causes the liners to break loose. If the liners break loose the continued operation may destroy the seat that sits on the support bowl or on the head of the Cone crusher.

Some Cone Crushers feature an automatic reminder to change the liner. The automatic reminder resets every time new mantle and concave liners are installed. The crusher's capacity to produce is tracked by the system that calculates the rate of wear. The system displays a warning on the cone setting meters to change cones when cone liners have reached their maximum wear point. Once the wear components are changes, reset the automatic reminder system and continue efficient and reliable crushing.

A crucial point to remember: You should never place a new concave liner in a crusher with worn mantles or a new mantle in a crusher with worn concave lines. Combining worn and new components alters the shape of the crushing chamber and hinder the flow of feed into the crushing chamber, which will result in a decrease in the amount of tonnes per hour that are produced.

Improve liner life with correct feed distribution

It is essential to correctly feed the crusher to obtain the longest wear life from your Crusher Liners and to maximize your crusher performance.

Incorrect feeding methods

A segregated feed distribution that delivers large materials to one side of the crusher, and smaller material to the opposite side, will lead to inadequate wear on the liner. Additionally, it can cause ring bounce if the pressure in the chamber is greater than the pressure holding it down, in addition to larger products and poor particle shape.

A feed that is not aligned, or only sends a small portion of the feed to just one crusher side can cause poor liner wear, poor ring bounce, and a poor shape of the particle. If you don't utilize the entirety of the chamber, you're not maximizing crusher performance.

Proper feeding technique

Choke feeding your Cone Crusher is the ideal way to prolong its life. Choke feeding allows a full chamber with material on top to help push the material inside the chamber through. Choke feeding reduces air pockets within the crushing chamber to limit the creation of flat, elongated particles.
